Replication (Kid Sensation #6) is Done!

It's been a long time coming, but I'm happy to report that Replication (Kid Sensation #6) is finally done and in the hands of my editor. Hooray!!!

Weighing in at a little over 500 pages, it's the longest book I've written by a significant margin - and that's with me having left a number of scenes on the cutting room floor. For reasons that are already well-documented all over my blog, this one took much longer than anticipated, but I don't plan to let that much time pass between Kid Sensation books again.  Thus, I'll probably take a few days to decompress, then it's back to the grind again.

As for actual publication, we're practically at the end of December now, so I'm assuming a January release. Of course, much depends on other factors: when my editor gets it back to me, how long my formatting guy takes to do his thing, etc. Still, I'm excited that the book will be out soon.

In related news, I now have my own website: kevinhardmanauthor.com

I decided a while back that getting my own website was an absolute must. I really like what I've been able to do on Blogger, but at the end of the day the site is owned by Google, and if they decide they want to lock me out of my account or delete all my content, they can do that. (In fact, I've heard of that happening to people, which is sort of what prompted me to act.)

The site's actually been finished for a little while now; I was trying to wait and announce it jointly with the release of the new book, but decided to go ahead and do so now instead of waiting. It's very much like the blog, but also offers some Kid Sensation merch (some pics of which I've posted here), as well as tie-ins with my other books, should anyone be interested.

For what it's worth, I've actually got the next 3 Kid Sensation books plotted in my head (and have actually started writing them), as well as some companion novels and short stories. Frankly speaking, it's an embarrassment of riches to a certain extent. The task now is to get those (and everything else I'd like to publish) written asap.

Anyway, I'm incredibly grateful for how patient everyone's been and for the ongoing support I've received. I will do my best to get future books out at a much faster clip.

  2. LOL! No, the goal was always to get it done sooner rather than later (although it took me much longer than I ever expected).

  3. Thanks Kevin! Hopefully the fanbase wasn't too savage. Can't wait to see it out in the Kindle store!

  4. You may want to work with your cover artist for your merch. Also, you may want to consider a graphic novel as a possible inroads to expand your novels into the movie, animated movie or even cartoon realm.

Looking forward to more of your books.

    1. The merch was kind of an aside. There was the ability to do it, and not a lot of downside. I've already had my cover artist do some work, like lifting some of the character images from the background on the covers, but it's probably worth gauging interest before paying for a lot of customized work in that arena.

The thought of a graphic novel has crossed my mind once or twice, but off the cuff it looks like a lot of hard work. I know what it takes just to get a book cover the way I want; I can't imagine doing 30-to-40 pages of that. (And I'm just talking about the artwork - not everything else, like lettering, the script, etc.) And it's freakin' expensive, to boot. In short, much like TV/movies, I may have to wait until an outside party shows interest as opposed to developing that project on my own.

Regardless, I appreciate the advice, and thanks for your support.

    1. That's the plan, although I'm not sure about how to effectuate the smoothest transition. I will probably just start posting to the new website and putting a link here each time saying "New Post available at www.kevinhardmanauthor.com."

    2. You could just put a redirect on this site with a notice saying hey.. you are being redirected to the new Kevin Hardman site. Please update your links accordingly.

    3. A redirect makes sense, but I don't want to cut folks off completely from everything that's been posted here (even though the bulk of it is on the new website)

    1. It's not completely up-to-date. The process began well over a year ago, and I think everything got imported at that time, but nothing since.

    1. I've been in touch with my narrator, and I'm hoping to get everything to him around mid-January. Depending on how quickly he can turn things around, I'm hoping the audio version of Kid Sensation #6 is out no later than mid-February.

  9. I feel like that was a bait and switch. I just got back into town. Sat down at the computer(where I was didn't have one) and checking the various websites I frequent, got here and saw the title stating it was done and got all excited. I thought it was a little Christmas bibliophile miracle. So sad.... I will have to comfort myself with pie.

  12. Ty so much for the Kid Sensation series!!! I listened to your first one at work one day, and boy did it make my day! I love those books, my brother does too, the first one I heard was so good I told my brother about it soon as I finished. When I started to, he was so gripped he made me retell it to him from memory then read it himself, we got all 5 and the side novels. Mouse's tale was AWESOME, I seriously love that guy, thank you for bringing him to life👍😁. After we finished #5 CORONATION, I got to say we were pretty freakin ecstatic! Omg that ending, just WOW. Now can't wait for your #6!!! Found out bout it right on time👏 Please keep up your Awesome work, you have two more happy customers😎👌
