New Release: Mouse's Tale (An Alpha League Supers Novel)

At long last, the novel about Mouse - Kid Sensation's mentor - has finally been released. Mouse's Tale (An Alpha League Supers Novel) went live last night (and almost in record time).

Those familiar with my Kid Sensation series will probably notice one thing right away: the subtitle here is a little different than the one I used with Amped, the companion novel to the series that was released last summer (and which was aptly subtitled A Kid Sensation Companion Novel).

Basically, I had a lot of ideas coming at me when I wrote this one, and some seemed better suited - and could be fleshed out in more detail - in other books.  (Truth be told, I've had numerous concepts popping into my brain about this book ever since the notion of writing it first occurred to me.) In short, this novel may also mark the debut of a new series that focuses more on the adult members of the Alpha League.

As always, however, I had fun writing this one and providing a little more detail about Mouse and his abilities, which is something I'm sure readers have been eager to learn more about, since he appears to lack any discernable super powers.

In other news, the audiobook for Terminus (Fringe Worlds #1) has finally been released. (I'm sure I've mentioned it a couple of times before, but I'm really enjoying the process of releasing audio versions of my work and wish I had done it sooner.)

I'm currently working on the second book in the series and hope to have it completed soon.  In the meantime, I have promo codes that I can use to gift free copies of my audiobooks, so if anyone would like audio versions of Terminus or Infiltration (Kid Sensation #3), please let me know and provide me with your email address.  (As usual, I'll give out the codes on a first come, first served basis.) Also please indicate whether you prefer the US Audible or UK Audible Store.  Thanks again for your support.

  1. Hello,
I'll just start off by saying again that I love your Kid Sensation series. I finished Coronation via audiobook and absolutely loved it. I am continually surprised and impressed by how you keep the story fresh and compelling with every book your write. And the cliff hanger in the end of Coronation left me salivating for more. Now I'm dying for "Replication", and am wondering when It might be done. I also was wondering if your companion novels for KS will be turned into audio books.

    1. Thanks for the generous compliments about my work. I've started the next Kid Sensation book, but I'm hesitant to mention a release date because that always seems to jinx it. (For instance, I had actually intended to have it published by now.)

As to Audiobooks, the plan is to release audio versions of everything. The only bad thing on that front is that I'm using the same narrator for all my books, and he can only work so fast. However, because I anticipate the narrator for the audiobook of "Amped" to be female, that one might get released sooner rather than later.

  4. It really was amazing. I believe it was the best one so far. I loved the little things that tied it back to the other books.

  5. Loved the book. Especially the Kid references and Easter egg. Had once complaint though. A small one. Felt there were too many...not even sure what the literary term would be, but you would add additional details in parenthesis.

I then sat down and ate a meal (it wasn't a good meal per say but it got the job done)

or something like that. I started noticing these add ones more and more as the book went on. I guess that's how Mouse thinks. I don't recall them being that frequent in the Kid series.

    1. Thanks for the compliment. As to the parentheticals, I would say that was intended to give insight into Mouse's brain in that he's always multi-tasking - thinking on more than one level. Regardless, I appreciate the comment. Like almost any other profession, writers will develop certain habits, and it's good to occasionally get a body check on things like this to make sure we don’t cross the line between constructive use and abuse.

  6. Great book as always. Looking forward to the next KS book. Just wondering, what scene is the cover art supposed to represent? Or is it just a representation of Mouse?

Also, Im going to assume that Failsafe got dismantled since it never showed up in any of the KS books, even when it would have been really useful.

    1. The character on the cover is Chitin. The scene is supposed to be at Wannabes, when Mouse describes the wall behind Chitin (although the character is standing rather than sitting).

As to decommissioning Failsafe, the real question is whether Mouse has personally been in dire enough peril in any of the other books for Failsafe to be needed. After all, it's a weapon of last resort. (Hint: there's a reference to Mouse being "protected" in Revelation.)

  8. I recently got an audible account, decided to try out your first kid sensation book out. Nine days later and i have heard KS 1-5. Thank you for making my job a lot less boring this past week. I'm also new to your blogspot so I'm not sure if you have a new KS book coming out. I sure hope you do, keep up the good work.

  9. Great job - I just discovered your books and read all the Kid Sensation ones via Kindle Unlimited. It is nice that you have created a series that is safe for the entire family. My daughter (the biggest superhero fan in our family) may receive some of the paperbacks for Christmas.

Could you send me an email at lcgentry@umw.edu at your convenience. I have a quick question to ask you privately.

    Thank you,
    Lance

  10. Holy shit!!! Loved it! Ran through it in a matter of hours. I couldn't put it down. I have been wanting to learn more about mouse. Given his character in the KS books I knew there was more to Mouse but...damn! Nice work man. Now how bout you hook us up with next KS installment.

  13. Just discovered your Kid Sensation series on Audible and I'm hooked! Listening to Coronation now, so please keep them coming so I have something to listen to when I finish it! My ONLY comment - and it's not necessarily a bad thing - is that Jim speaks more like someone from my generation (yes, I'm much older than your target audience) than a teenager. After all, how many teenagers do you know that use the word willy-nilly? Again, just a comment and please KEEP THEM COMING!!

  14. I'm glad you're enjoying the series and I appreciate the compliment. As to Jim's vocabulary, it's worth bearing in mind that he's spent more time with his mother and grandfather as opposed to other teens, so he may occasionally use a turn of phrase that's more indicative of an older generation.

    1. You have a point - and I actually did think of that about 2 days after I wrote my comment.
